ABOUT THE TRAILS
Be part of this great change by showing your support in buying a Trails permits. Our trails are great for biking, hiking and jogging. Not only do the funds generated from these permits go towards the upkeep of our trails, but also to provide for the Foundation to see its vision and mission fulfilled.
Please help change lives by giving a donation or become a monthly partner trough sponsorship. Your generosity in giving allows us to ultimately transform our community.
Mountain biking as a sport is exploding in our country. One of the goals of Southernmost Foundation is to bring mountain biking into the local community as a healthy pastime. Not only is it a cheap way of exercising but it’s also a very enjoyable sport.
With obesity in our country reaching alarming levels, mountain biking has the potential to be a lifesaver so we’re putting together a really huge programme in terms of outreaches and trail-building - we want to make the Bredasdorp/Struisbaai/Napier area a real MTB playground. To date, two major projectes included:
Southernmost Foundation has built a proper BMX course where training and regular playing take place; it has also built up a cache of donated bikes for the children with whom it is involved.
Southernmost Foundation, with the help of the Foundation kids, has created cycling trails in the “KAM”-area and this network amounts to 75km. We aim to expand to 100km, all singletrack! It will eventually stretch from Napier to Bredasdorp and Agulhas - truly a big dreamwe have for this community!
However, there are costs associated with this. Not only do we want to expand, but it must also be maintained. We therefore kindly request you to become part of our permit system or to make a donation of R500 or more to SMF.
As a permit holder you will have access to a beautiful part of our area and these great cycle trails - the best in the Overberg! Our agreement with the landowners and “KAM” is that only cyclists with permits provided by the Southernmost Foundation are allowed to use these trails - other riders will now be "illegal" on these trails.
