Exciting News – The Southernmost Foundation has started yet another Outreach group!
On Saturday, October 19th the new group met for the first time in Bredasdorp. At 8am the group of 9 kids aged between 6-13 years old were picked up from their homes and brought to the bike shop. The Group Leader was Naas Vermaak. He was helped by Garshwin Palmer. Together they took the learners through bike safety guidelines and rules of the road, and helped fit them out with bikes and helmets. They were now ready for their first outing. The group rode to the BMX track that the Southernmost Foundation has built for mountain biking in Bredasdorp near the sports centre.
Once at the track, Naas taught them more mountain biking handling skills which everyone tried out to much success and enthusiasm! Snacks and cool drinks were shared during the break, and then they all worked together to clean the trash around the area. 20 bags of garbage were collected, cleaning the area and helping it to look beautiful again. The group finished at 10am by riding back to the bike shop and getting dropped off at home.
This group will meet again soon and the Southernmost Foundation plans to keep up this outreach group for several weeks.
